Thread Count

Thread Count is basically the number of threads in one square inch. For example a thread count of 260 means a weave of 140 vertical threads per square inch, called the warp, and 120 horizontal threads, called the weft.

Most cotton fabric is woven from a thread using a single cotton fiber, the cotton Sateen and Damask are made from a pair of fibers twisted together.

This means that products often have TWICE the cotton fibers.

Thread counts that reach 180 is called Percale.
