Home-Maxxing: What the Heimtextil 2027 Trend Means for Commercial Bedding Buyers

Heimtextil, the leading international trade fair for home and contract textiles, has named “Home-Maxxing: The Performance of Everyday Living” as its 2027/28 trend theme. Developed with Milan design platform Alcova, it will be presented at Heimtextil 2027 in Frankfurt, January 12 to 15.

What is home-maxxing?

Home-maxxing means choosing textiles for how well they improve daily life, not just how they look. A duvet should regulate warmth, sheets should withstand constant washing, and a pillow should feel like a reward at the end of the day. The idea grew out of social media trends like sleepmaxxing.

The three Heimtextil Trends 27/28, in bedding terms

Staged Competence: performance you can see

Specs and certifications become part of the product story. For bedding, that means fill power, fill weight, thread count, and certifications like DOWNMARK® and OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 Class 1. Our SmartCare Dual Warmth Duvet (https://www.highlandfeather.com/smartcaredualwarmthcomforter) even lets you set a different fill power and warmth level for each side of the bed.

Inside, Out: construction on display

This trend values visible construction and products that can be repaired instead of replaced. Think baffle box construction, double needle edge piping, and corner ties. Highland Feather offers duvet and pillow repair where practicable, backed by 15-year and 6-year warranties.

Hyper Presence: the comfort of touch

A response to screen fatigue, this trend focuses on natural fibres and texture. Our French Linen, Bamboo Linen, and 200T Cotton Percale collections fit right in.

Why it matters for your business

  • Hotels and short-term rentals: Sleep tourism is a 2026 trend, and guests increasingly book based on how well they’ll sleep.

  • Retailers and boutique shops: Trend-aware shoppers ask about fill power and fabric. Clear specs make the sale easier.

  • Long-term care and medical facilities: Certified materials and pillow protectors support comfort and hygiene through frequent laundering.

  • Commercial housing and rental units: Repairable bedding means fewer replacements between tenants.

  • Start-ups and private-label brands: Transparent specs give a new brand credibility from day one.

Quick checklist for your next bedding order

  • Request full specs and certifications

  • Check construction and stitching quality

  • Confirm the warranty and repair options
