Down-fill power (loft) and warmth?Filling power, or loft, is the ability of an ounce of down tested in a controlled environment to occupy space. High quality down has the ability to insulate very well if air is able to be trapped around the down filaments. Down provides for an insulated and comfortable sleep in cold temperatures, but also contributes to a light and airy sleep in warm temperature, thanks to its breathable nature. The higher the fill power, the better the down is able to do this job. Higher filling power, reflected in loft number, is an indicator of higher quality down, which ranges from about 500-800. Comforters with a fill count of 800 and higher are of superb quality, 700 and up are very good, and 600 and up are decent.

What is special about 100% Cotton Casing?Cotton is a breathable fabric that absorbs heat and moisture. It allows heat and perspiration to pass through the fabric to keep you cool in the warm weather and traps air between the fabric fibers and provide thermal insulation in the cold time. We use Egyptian cotton which is especially fine, soft and durable. Cotton is naturally hypoallergenic, which is the reason why it is used in medical products. The high tensile strength makes it strong and less likely to rip or tear. Along with its down-proof design, it can provide years of comfort for many peaceful night's sleep if properly cared. Our duvets offer 5 options of size, from twin to super king, to make sure that they can fit in any bedrooms. Last but not least, our duvet casing has 4 corner ties which offers the option to put on your favourite duvet cover and secures the comforter in place.
-
How to Properly Use Down Comforter? Before using the down comforter for the first time, shake the down comforter vigorously for a few minutes to encourage lofting. Full lofting of your down comforter could take 24 hours to occur. When using your down comforter, your body heat will also enable more lofting to take place. Customers are advised to shake the down comforter weekly to retain its loft. Caring for your down comforter is important as it will prolong the life of the down comforter and eliminate the need for frequent cleaning. The easiest approach is to use it together with a duvet cover. The cover will keep the comforter clean and reduce wear. It is also important to periodically air out your down comforter. Airing freshens your down comforter, and optimizes the insulating properties of the down.

What is the difference between goose down and duck down? The first difference, which could potentially affect the user experience, is the possibility of lingering odor from duck down. The second difference is the availability of high fill power down. Since geese are in general physically larger than ducks, it is only possible to harvest a sufficient quantity of large down clusters from geese to produce high-end down at scale, goose down clusters are larger and loftier.
-
What is the difference between down from different origins? The down in our products is ethically sourced from many parts of world, including Canada, Europe and Asia. Some countries, such as Hungary and Poland, have a long tradition of down production, and the down from these countries is known for its premium quality. That said, we always assess the down quality based on lab testing results, regardless of its origin.
-
What is the percentage of down in the down products? Our down duvets and pillows, unless specifically indicated to be feather-added products, are filled with genuine down material, without the addition of other fill materials such as feathers or microfiber. It is important to note that we cannot claim to use 100% down, due to the presence of down filaments and small feathers, which are too small to be separated during the down sorting process. In fact, for the same reason, no one in the industry is allowed to state that a product is “All Down,” “Pure Down,” “100% Down,” or anything else of the sort. For quality control and assurance, we mandate our down duvet/pillow manufacturer to test every batch of the down by IDFL, an internationally recognized certified laboratory. The down would typically consist of between 75% and 92% down clusters (the higher the fill power, the higher the cluster percentage), with the remaining material being loose fluffy filaments or soft, tiny feathers. These tiny feathers are different from the large feathers that are used in feather duvets or pillows.
-
Would down leak from the duvet or pillow? The fabric of all our down products is designed and made to be down-proof. If any leakage occurs due to manufacturing defect, the down products are covered under manufacturer quality warranty - 15 years for down duvets and 6 years for down pillows.
-
What if down has shifted within the duvet? Our baffle box down duvets are designed to prevent the down from shifting between the boxes. Using the duvet with the sew-in labels on the side would also help reduce the chance of down from shifting. However, shifting could still occur after prolonged usage. In this case, we would be happy to repair the duvet given that it is covered by our manufacturer quality warranty - 15 years for down duvets and 6 years for down pillows.
-
Is the duvet shell rustling and wrinkly? Our duvet shells are made with 100% cotton, which are soft to the touch and not prone to produce rustling noise. That said, the perception of noise can be very personal. If you are sensitive to fabric noise, we would recommend that you choose a higher thread count/ softer duvet cover. For instance, woven with very fine yarns (100s x 100s), choosing the ultra-soft 500TC fabric is the best bet to ensuring a quiet and comfortable sleep. For more information about various fabric selections, please refer to the “Thread Count” page in the “Resource Content” section. Cotton duvet shells will wrinkle under normal use. The wrinkles do not affect the functionality or the durability of the duvet. We recommend the use of a duvet cover, which not only protects the duvet and enhances its longevity, but also addresses any concerns regarding the appearance of wrinkles.
-
Why is the duvet smaller than the dimension stated? The dimensions of the duvets and pillows stated in the product description refer to the respective shell sizes. In some cases, the actual dimension could differ by approximately 1-2 inches due to the tightening of fabric caused by sewing and the filling of down. In addition, washing of the cotton fabric could also cause a small shrinkage as well. Please refer to specific Care Instructions for proper product care.
-
How do I choose the fill level for duvets (Summer, All seasons or Winter)? Each duvet series comes with 3 fill weights to suit users with different warmth preferences. Down of a higher loft or a higher fill weight would provide more warmth. Please refer to the fill weight chart under each product for more detail. If you had a down duvet before, you could use it as a reference point to find a comparable duvet. If this is your first down duvet, feel free to contact us for recommendation.
